An excellent opportunity for an experienced Project Engineer has arisen within this leading international engineering business with a strong reputation for innovation supplying major global customers in strong niche markets. Job title: Project Engineer Department: Product Development Pay Rate: to £19.58 per hour ( Limited Company ) Contract Duration: 6 months Location: Warwickshire ( commutable from Coventry, Solihull, Leamington, Warwick, Banbury, Oxford, Rugby, Daventry, Stratford areas)
The role Manage the Purchase commercial gap database to support the update of the purchase performance system. Facilitate Design and Non Design idea generation events and generation of specific commodity cost gap analysis. Develop detailed planning of Benchmarking, Value Stream Mapping and Emerging Market Sourcing Planning and special projects. Project manage the TVM team in managing value and cost for a range of commodities. Act as the point of contact for commodity team members within Purchase, Engineering and Cost Estimating, working with the commodity teams to help manage the existing workstreams and generate new opportunities by the organisation and promotion of various value management activities. Lead and project manage cross functional teams to develop and deliver commodity plans and/or design actions with minimum supervision, ensuring all areas of the business are fully integrated with the change. Develop engineering solutions with the specific aim of reducing the cost of the component / assembly. Support the TVM manager with data & presentation material (Vehicle Line Business Reviews / CBP / CoC Reviews / Product Design Reviews). Develop business cases with CoC / Programme / TVM Finance and manage through to funding approval. Support weekly programme attribute change (PACN) meetings ensuring cost reduction actions progress smoothly.
Skills and Experience Required
Skills Required: Proven project management skills. A good business acumen and knowledge of finance analysis, ideally with some level of negotiation skills. An awareness of benchmarking or idea generation activities. Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with colleagues to leverage knowledge and experience. A good level of data analysis and interpretation, fully computer literate including MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Project. A good general knowledge of vehicle / component design and / or manufacture. A team player who can fit in and work closely within a small team. A confident communicator with the ability to present at all levels within the organisation. Valid UK driving licence Skills Preferred: Tenacity and steadfastness to follow through and complete delivery, using initiative to find solutions. Able to pursuade and influence people to do the right thing for the business
Experience Required: Project Management experience including support for Product Development and Purchasing projects. Robust understanding of TVM / Lean work streams and an understanding of total cost engineering. Experience of cost reduction initiatives, tools and techniques. Experience Preferred: Working knowledge of the project delivery process (GPDS). Working knowledge of the commodity strategy process (CBP). Awareness of latest manufacturing processes / techniques for a variety of materials / designs. Familiarity with the change management processes, (PACN, WERS, CMM, CIM, MTC) and New Model and MY programme process.
Education Required: HND or Degree
Additional Information : Although primary location is Gaydon the role may require travel between all sites (predominantly Whitley).
