Job Description

Development of automotive body structures using FEA, to meet defined performance targets, specifically for front, side & rear crash. Able to run baseline CAE analysis, summarise results and feedback conclusions to the Body CAE Crash Team & Program Leader in an efficient manner. Able to work effectively with design teams to develop solutions within defined deadlines and time constraints. Have an awareness of potential design constraints (packaging, manufacturing etc.) and ensure due consideration is given in developing solutions.

Skills and Experience Required

Skills Required: Ability to carry out development of automotive body structures using FEA, to meet defined performance targets, specifically; front, side & rear crash. Able to build crash models of whole vehicle or sub-system using the includes structure. Able to run Safety/Crash CAE analysis, summarise results and feedback conclusions to the Body CAE Crash Team & Program Leader in an efficient manner. Have an awareness of potential design constraints (packaging, manufacturing etc.) and ensure due consideration is given in developing solutions. Have adequate knowledge of automotive body structure crashworthiness and load paths. Following software skills are essential: Ls-Dyna & Oasys suite (Primer, T-His, D3plot) Hyperworks (..mesh, ..graph, ..view). PC Skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Skills Preferred: Good communication skills - both written and spoken is essential.

Experience Required: Extensive experience of working in the automotive industry, involved with the development of body structures for crashworthiness using CAE methods.

Experience Preferred: Familiarity and experience of JLR working practices relating to CAE methods and processes. Familiarity and experience of JLR CAD, Tce & Digibuck. Familiarity of JLR IT system.

Education Required: Educated to a minimum of degree level in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent technical subject.
