Job Description
An experienced and qualified Motor Mechanic Tutor is required to work for our Training Centre located in Erdington, Birmingham. You will deliver hands on motor vehicle maintenance training to learners, including: - How to perform an MOT, - How to strip and rebuild engines, - How to service and repair vehicles, and the workings of petrol and diesel fuel systems - Deliver simple hands on welding classes to learners - Develop and deliver IMI accredited curriculum at level one - Develop and prepare schemes of work and lesson plans - Embed literacy and numeracy into lessons whenever possible - Support and assess learner progress and identify areas in need of improvement - Relay feedback to students regarding their progress, achievements and areas of improvement - Agree with learners their individual learning plans to complete course - Oversee maintenance of company vehicles as required
Working a 37.5 hour week Monday to Friday 9.00 - 5.00pm
Skills and Experience Required
ESSENTIAL - Qualified in motor mechanics to level 3 or above - Training or teaching experience - Experience of working in motor mechanics - Basic welding skills - Literacy at level 2, numeracy at level 1 or above - Empathy with youngsters from disadvantaged backgrounds. - Motivational skills and ability to raise learners’ aspirations. - Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing. - Positive, enthusiastic and energetic outlook. - Strong team ethic DESIRABLE - Experience of working with disadvantaged young adults - Knowledge of current IT packages e.g. Word, Excel, etc. - IV, Assessor or teacher qualification, or studying towards
