Job Description
Temporary to start but with a view to move permanent for the right candidate
This exciting new opportunity for an ambitious and experience Engineer working for a dynamic, rapidly growing venture developing specialized cost-effective coating equipment for the solar cells, clean energy, aerospace and low carbon emission industries. This position would suit someone with a strong engineering background and entrepreneurial spirit. The role requires a highly motivated individual who can manage and deliver a detailed legislative based technical project, and work to a high standard and within strict timetables. The role and responsibilities: • Designing of prototype equipment and performing research internally and with industrial collaborator/universities/customers. • Performing trials in ideas and concept phases, through to prototypes, test and validation • Prototype test and hands on development in a laboratory environment. • Responsible for process design/optimization, equipment specification, test, and validation in coating manufacturing. • Provide technical oversight, support and expertise during design, install, start-up, production runs of processes and approval. • Observe, troubleshoot, and document any process, improvement or scale-up issues. • Health and safety adherence. Respect for potential hazardous materials and practice high standards of housekeeping. • Work efficiently to execute projects to implement new solutions and processes, and competitor benchmarking. • Business liaison throughout the R&D process, and support sales and quality assurance as required. • Open innovation awareness, sourcing information from industries, universities and research institutions. • Activities may be team-related or operate on a lone-working basis. • Adherence to the contract of employment. • Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience Required
Qualified to engineering degree level / HNC/HND in an Engineering subject. (e.g. Mechanical, Production, Electrical, Chemical, Process, Instrument or relevant discipline) - Practical attitude and hands-on skills - Talented, inquisitive mind, quick to learn and with a flair of innovation - Strong troubleshooting skills and can think outside the box - Experience of managing project to time and within budget - Self motivator and want projects to be launched into the market place. - Communication skills and computer literacy are essential
