Job Description
As a result of business expansion our Client is looking for a graduate calibre Engineer, Materials Scientist or Scientist to join their technical and quality department. The department provides the following functions: Providing specialist technical advice on the utilisation and application of metal joining products to both customers and members of the sales team Investigation of customer complaints to determine validity, and where valid, institutes necessary actions to correct the situation and maintain customer satisfaction Undertaking practical trials, and technical assessments of metal joining products Ensures compliance with ISO 9001, including the conducting of internal audits Ensures products have appropriate Safety Data Sheets and that product labelling is compliant with legislative requirements
This role will report into the Manager Technical & Quality Services. It is largely a customer-facing job, which is varied in its nature. There are opportunities for international travel visiting customers and suppliers and for career progression within the business. As the role requires in depth knowledge, training and ongoing mentoring will be provided over the short and medium term.
Skills and Experience Required
The job is ideal for a new or recently qualified graduate. The starting salary will depend on the level of relevant experience in a technical and / or quality role in an industrial field. The candidate will need to demonstrate that they have the following: Either a technical degree (in an engineering, materials or scientific discipline) and a keen interest in materials science / engineering A scientific approach, problem solving ability and the capability to learn a technical discipline are necessary for the role Knowledge of metallurgy including thermal joining processes like brazing would be an advantage but is not essential Excellent inter-personal and communication skills. Good IT skills, specifically MS Word and Excel.
