Job Description
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Principle Instrumentation Engineer based in Runcorn.
The vacancy is for a permanent position with a leading industrial services supplier.
The Principle Instrument Engineer is to lead the design of control systems and instrumentation, ensuring that it is delivered in a cost effective and timely manner and in compliance with relevant standards, directives and regulations.
The Principle Instrument Engineer: • Deals with all aspects of design e.g. Scope and estimate preparation, selection and specification of equipment for hazardous areas, Hazop and safety review actions, trip test methods etc. • Oversees instrument workload and acts as line manager for Instrument Engineers and Designers • Has experience of acting as project engineer for smaller/single discipline jobs • Supports installation and commissioning activities • Has experience of Safety Instrumented Systems design to IEC61508/11 • Has knowledge and specification of different types of field instruments • Has knowledge and specification of control system hardware DCS, SCADA, PLC • Has knowledge of hazardous area classification and design requirements. • Produces cost and man-hour estimates and monitoring. • Provides checking and approval of design deliverable documents. • Has working knowledge of hazardous chemical plant safety implications. • Is able to work on their own initiative and meet agreed deadlines. • Understands and can utilise other basic Microsoft office software. • Supports other disciplines with project information.
Skills and Experience Required
The ideal candidate will have the following experience: • Experience in Process / Petrochemical industry. • 10+ years experience of working within a multidiscipline project and design engineering environment. • Good technical knowledge of relevant standards and regulations eg. ATEX/DSEAR, EC61511
